Either through the human condition of guilt or embarrassment, it can feel really awkward re-establishing contact with someone we haven’t spoken with for many months or years.
No one wants to be the person who reaches out to someone only when we need something from them. It makes us feel uncomfortable.
Break the ice by acknowledging how quickly time flies by. It lessens our discomfort.
- Ask how they are and whether you can help them in some way
- Ask about their previous purchases. Did they work out?
- Update them on your current product or service line-up
- Think about an exclusive promotion.
- Get some dialogue going.
Offering help? You never know, it might be needed, and you never know where it might lead.
